About the job
As our Product Compliance Manager, you are joining a dynamic team where you will be responsible for product compliance across our global markets.  Working closely with the Product and Corporate teams, this role is responsible for compiling and maintaining compliance documentation, ensuring our products meet regulatory and safety standards (including but not limited to GPSR, REACH, CLP, PPE and various environmental compliance and labelling regulations), and keeping the company up to date with changing compliance requirements across globally with an initial focus on the UK, EU, USA, and APAC . You will act as the company’s go-to person on compliance, ensuring our diving and watersports equipment and apparel is safe, trusted and market compliant.

Key Responsibilities

– Ensure all equipment and clothing comply with relevant EU, UK, and international regulations (e.g., GPSR, PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425, EN standards, REACH, RoHS, ISO, and other applicable industry standards) and their relevant compliance evidence is audit ready and aligned.

– Compile, maintain and update technical documentation, Declarations of Conformity, test reports, and certification records for all products as required.

– Manage the material and product testing, related approval processes and then coordinating this with the necessary regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and third-party testing laboratories.

– Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing, and design teams (internal & external) to collect and validate compliance information.

– Track and assess regulatory updates and industry trends, providing guidance to internal teams on compliance requirements. Keep informed of changes in laws, standards, and certifications, including changes in global regulations, to ensure the company remains compliant with evolving regulations.

– Assess the impact of new or revised regulations on our product range and advise management accordingly.

– Translate compliance requirements into clear internal guidance for product design & development, manufacturing and marketing teams.

– Maintain a register of compliance obligations for the company.

– Collaborate with design, development, production, and quality teams to ensure materials, labelling, and product components meet compliance requirements.

– Create and conduct risk assessments to identify potential risks and collaborate with Garment Tech to implement corrective actions.

– Ensure accurate product labelling, packaging, and documentation in line with textile, packaging, environmental, and safety regulations (i.e. recycling symbols, material disclosures etc).

– Act as the main point of contact for regulatory bodies, test houses, and certification partners.

– Develop and deliver training or guidance to internal teams on compliance requirements and best practices.

– Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes, systems, and documentation.

– Manage supplier agreements, ensuring compliance obligations are met, and implement changes or corrective actions as necessary.

– Support sustainability initiatives and ensure adherence to ethical sourcing standards.

What you’ll bring to Fourth Element

– Experience incompliance, regulatory affairs, or quality assurance (preferably within the diving, apparel, sporting goods, or PPE industries).

– Knowledge of key regulations such as: GPSR, REACH, ISO standards, and other relevant industry guidelines.

– Knowledge of ISO 9001, CE marking, UKCA marking, PPE Regulation (EU/UK) 2016/425 or other product safety certifications and regulations.

– Familiarity with international product compliance frameworks (EU, UK, USA, APAC and others).

– Experience of compiling and managing technical files, certifications, and declarations.

– Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple compliance tasks simultaneously.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with regulatory bodies, suppliers, and internal teams.

– Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with compliance management software is an advantage.

– An interest in SCUBA diving is a plus but a willingness to learn is also welcome.
